How do You Do That?- Friendship Bracelets

By Christina

Have you ever wanted to give your friend a gift to tell them that you are thankful for them? Well now you can! With this simple and easy friendship bracelet you can now tell them how thankful you are for them.

Materials: Two colors of string, Scissors, Tape, Ruler, and Charm (optional)

To start off, cut 3 pieces of string of each color about 27 inches long.

First, take your string and tie them in a simple knot.(Picture 1)
Then, tape the knot down on your work surface. ( Picture 2)
Next, separate the two colors from each other. To form the design of the bracelet take the color on the left and form a four over your other color.(Picture 3)
Followed by taking the end putting it under and through your color on the right. (Picture 4)
Finally pull the string you just looped tight.  (Picture 5)
Then, just continue doing that alternating colors. ( Picture 6)
If you would like to add a charm when you reach about half way in your bracelet slide the charm on the string (Picture 7) that was just looped and continue on as if it weren’t there. (Picture 8)When you reach about an inch from the bottom of your bracelet tie a knot to finish it off.
Voila! Now you have a cute and simple gift to give your friends to let them know you are thankful for them.

And that is How You Do That!!!

Christina is 13 and in the 8th grade and recently started her own blog and Facebook page called: Christina’s Special Creations. She was inspired to start blogging by her mom, who is the blogger behind Crissy Crafts. She hopes her love for making easy crafts and sweet treats will help her become a BIG TIME blogger like her mom one day. Christina is also the big sister to two younger siblings ages 9 and 3. Although neither of her siblings are on the spectrum, she does have close family friends who are. That is why Christina is so excited to be a part of Shout Out Online Magazine. When we were talking about what the theme for March should be, I said Spring which made Grace think of Butterflies. Then she got all excited and said , "YES... Butterflies. How to help your sibling SOAR... you know giving them Wings!" And well it took off from there. I love this idea, because that is exactly what we hope this magazine does to you all... offers you support and encouragement to test your own wings out. Then and only then can you feel comfortable to help your sibling soar. We can't wait to hear how far you and your sibling FLY! Happy Spring everyone. Here's to spreading your wings! Love, Mama and Grace

You Gotta Read THIS…

WonderJay is reading this book in school and said it is a MUST read and would be perfect for this issues You Gotta Read book. We agree. Just take a look at what Amazon says about the book WONDER! August Pullman was born with a facial deformity that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. Starting 5th grade at Beecher Prep, he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid—but his new classmates can’t get past Auggie’s extraordinary face. WONDER, now a #1 New York Times bestseller and included on the Texas Bluebonnet Award master list, begins from Auggie’s point of view, but soon switches to include his classmates, his sister, her boyfriend, and others. These perspectives converge in a portrait of one community’s struggle with empathy, compassion, and acceptance.
